Vilkas Partners Donates to Tribal Youth, Empowering Future Leaders in Natural Resources and Conservation

[Austin, TX, June 29, 2023] – Vilkas Partners announced today their donation to The Indigenous Natural Resource Office of Oregon, aimed at supporting Tribal youth. The contribution will fund job opportunities for up to 35 Tribal youth annually, providing them with a pathway to personal growth, professional development, and a promising future in the fields of natural resources, wildlife conservation, and forest management.

Through this initiative, Vilkas Partners seeks to empower Tribal youth by offering well-paying jobs, along with essential benefits such as a food per diem and transportation funds. Additionally, the funds will be utilized to purchase personal field gear that ensures the safety and success of the youth while working in the field.

Vilkas works closely with Cristina Eisenberg, Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence and Maybelle Clark Macdonald Director of Tribal Initiatives in Natural Resources at Oregon State University. Cristina has stated that “The Indigenous Natural Resource Office guides people and the institutions with whom we work to find ways to support Indigenous peoples and their communities while advancing social justice. The ecocultural projects that we lead braid together Indigenous Knowledge and Western science in doing research to help find solutions to humanity’s most pressing natural resource conservation problems and empower Tribal youth to become future leaders.”

Vilkas Partners' donation to The Indigenous Natural Resource Office underscores the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable community development. By investing in the future of Tribal youth, the organization aims to create a lasting impact that goes beyond the immediate benefits, fostering long-term environmental sustainability and cultural preservation.
